Military Goth

I don't know what day it is where you live, but here in America it's 9/11. And I think most of us- if not all- know what happened today ten years ago..  Therefore, I thought this post appropriate.

Another of our million fashion styles is Military Goth. It sprouted to life from Rivet-head, Punk, Fetish styles with a military twist.

They can clothe from just a simple military jacket and black boots to army fatigues, miniskirts, and caps.

This style of dress is a controversial topic amongst us. When people think of Goth they think of black-clad kids. Add some tattoes and military clothes, and they think we are in gangs or street crimes and neo-Nazism.

This is not the point. If we do wear these uniforms it's because we are doing so for irony, protest, or just want a shock feature. Most likey than not it is just a form of aesthetic.

Makeup usually is stark and minimal or dramatic. Many goths will wear patterned or coloured contact lenses.

Haircuts are usually things like mowhawks and undershaves, you know Rivethead or Punk inspired.

And there are Goths who do serve in their military forces all around the world.

Yours truly is in her highschool's JROTC or Junior Reserve Officer's Training Corps. As a little girl I was always loved camouflage, and now I'm in a training experience for soldiers. Yes, we march, we have uniforms, and ranks. We also learn how to climb a rope, navigate ourselves from a forest, and rock climb-(the highranking officers get guns. they don't use them!! They just practice drills with them). Why not learn these skills and join your JROTC? They don't recruit for the military! No? What if I tell you the highest ranking officers, the elites, are trimmed with black!

Another cronterversial topic are medals. It is common to see Steampunks or Rivetheads with a fake military medal. But what about if it's real? What if its an actual Purple Heart or Victoria Cross?

Should we be allowed to wear them even if we didn't actual earn that honor? Like I said before, there are some Goths in the military. If they actually earned them, then why not?

But if you bought it on EBay, should you wear it to the club? Should you wear something that someone got by leaving their family and risking their lives?

What about actual vintage uniforms? If you it's yours like mine, then sure. Go ahead! But if you purchased it? What then? Is this too much direspect?

I don't think we should wear them if it's not really ours, we haven't earned them, and definetly not if you don't know what it means! Yes those medals mean something. The trimming and different coloured hats mean something as well!!

Of course I know the military gear is beautiful. I'm fond of it myself! But don't wear the real thing gothlings.

Here are a few mililtary goth clothes I hope you love.

Ice Goth

Ice Goth or Negative Goth is a goth style with the opposite color. Unlike most of us, wearing black, they wear white.

They aren't really known, but they are quite popular. I, personally, have a few ice goth outfits.

It is said ice goth popped up in the 80s. As well all know, not many of us can afford the beautiful and lovely clothes made by goth designers.  So some goths bought used wedding dresses or used their mother's, paired it up with their stompy boots, and their chocker. Of course, they can and do match their white with the occasional black.

And they look extremely beautiful. Ice goth is popular amongst the Lolitas and they giving off an eerie and enchanting air in their ice goth wear.

Do you not love her boots?

Anyway, makeup is usually black-duh- on white skin. Lips can be white but typically they can be any color. You can also wear white eye makeup, this is mostly used by goths with darker skins. White on pale skin is pointless.

What you didn't know goths didn't have to be paled skinned? Well now you know. Remember I live in California- can you imagine my tan? I'll share a secret with you later... if I'm allowed.

P.S that's not me..

The Sisters Of Mercy

The Sisters of Mercy is an English gothic rock group. One of The Big Five Every Goth Should Know.

Along with The Cure, Bauhaus, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and Joy Division they lead the gothic movement.
They are a beloved band and there is almost no goth alive or dead who did not have one albumn from these bands.

The band first preformed in 1979. They had their commerial- breakthrough in the mid-1980 *hem, hem, when goth was first said to have appeared* and kept it until the mid-1990s. This due to the strike agaisnt their record company. They accused them of withholding royalties and because of their "incompantence".

The group ceased recording in 1993(the strike) and the company-Time Warner- let them go in 1997. The Sisters never signed to anothe label and chose not to go with an independent label. Now the Sisters of Mercy is the "artistic vehicle" of Andrew Eldritch( english frontman, singer, songwriter, and only remaining original member of the group).

The other members have formed bands known as the Ghost Dance and The Mission.

Well, now that I've given you a short history I'll let you hear their music and let you decide what you think of them.

Such a pity they're not perfoming together now, isn't it? Andrew still preforms every once in a while. I belive his most recent performance was in 2009 in Moscow.

Corporate Goth

Corporate Goth began as goths looking for jobs. Of course we can't all go to a job interview in Deathrocker or Victorian clothing, So goths had to adjust to dress codes in corporate situation without giving up their gothic tastes. Now, Corporate Goths are goths who dress in in this fashion claim to be more mature. The look has also become quite popular in the club scene as well.

Corporate Goth fashion includes pant suits (black, dark grey, and pinstripe) a dressy blouse (with either silk, lace, or frills), black or red ties, and simple jewelry (spiders, coffins, or a black necklace). They still wear dark eye makeup, but they are less over the top. Lips are either nude or in an autumn color look such as a dark red, plum, etc.

And now it is possible for us goths to have jobs but not lose our individuality.

Goths And Health

Not all goths enjoy sports. We can't always kick a ball with a 5-inch thick sole boot. But we still need to stay healthy.

Adora BatBrat recommends the Montignac Method if you want to lose wait. Phase 1 will help you lose wait, Phase 2 will help you maintain that weight.

But if you don't want to diet, why not try excersing every day? Don't want to run, do sit-ups, yoga, etc? Then try what Adora does!!

Instead of an escalator or an elevator, try the old fashioned way- STAIRS!

Like Adora, for this month of September I will ONLY use stairs if the option is avliable to me. I think we all need some work-out in our lives. ♥

Until later my babygoths!!
