The Sisters Of Mercy

The Sisters of Mercy is an English gothic rock group. One of The Big Five Every Goth Should Know.

Along with The Cure, Bauhaus, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and Joy Division they lead the gothic movement.
They are a beloved band and there is almost no goth alive or dead who did not have one albumn from these bands.

The band first preformed in 1979. They had their commerial- breakthrough in the mid-1980 *hem, hem, when goth was first said to have appeared* and kept it until the mid-1990s. This due to the strike agaisnt their record company. They accused them of withholding royalties and because of their "incompantence".

The group ceased recording in 1993(the strike) and the company-Time Warner- let them go in 1997. The Sisters never signed to anothe label and chose not to go with an independent label. Now the Sisters of Mercy is the "artistic vehicle" of Andrew Eldritch( english frontman, singer, songwriter, and only remaining original member of the group).

The other members have formed bands known as the Ghost Dance and The Mission.

Well, now that I've given you a short history I'll let you hear their music and let you decide what you think of them.

Such a pity they're not perfoming together now, isn't it? Andrew still preforms every once in a while. I belive his most recent performance was in 2009 in Moscow.
